SUFFOLK PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA

Leslie Olive founded the fully professional Suffolk Philharmonic Orchestra in 2012, and launched it in St Edmundsbury Cathedral as part of the 2012 Bury Festival.

Sharing players with the big name London orchestras, SPO playing standards are very high. Concerts often sell out, and feedback from knowledgeable commentators is enthusiastic.

London orchestras

Leslie Olive has conducted the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, London Mozart Players, the Philharmonia, the English Chamber Orchestra, in repertoire from Mozart to Britten.

He has conducted in venues including London's South Bank Centre and Barbican Concert Hall, and in regional venues including St Albans City Hall, The Hawth, Crawley, Dorking Halls, Snape Maltings, and many cathedrals including Manchester, Peterborough, Ely, Wells, and many more.

I am a member of the Ralph Vaughan Williams Society, and I have 78s, a dozen LPs, and over 30 CDs of his ‘London Symphony.’ I am writing to tell you that Suffolk Philharmonic Orchestra’s performance under your direction was one of the very best I have heard for many years. Absolutely superb. RVW would have loved it.”
